WE ARE ALL COLLABORATORS

Should we despise ourselves? I am reading a biographical novel about Trujillo, sociopathic and murderous dictator of the Dominican Republic for over 30 years. Installed by the USA, he was later replaced by a regime more suited to the USA's changed needs.

My first boss was a sociopath with behaviours modified to suit what you could get away with in the UK. I was part of his regime, till I quit.

A great truth emerged from the book. Whatever regime we live in and maybe despise. We aquiesce, accept or even support as necessary to live.

We collaborate too in humanity's great consumption of the its own habitat.

Many of us despise ourselves for our collaboration, at least a little.
